Welcome to the National Blood Service!

Contained within the next few pages is information about what happens at donation sessions, how we use Blood in the treatment of patients and how you can save lives by becoming one of the thousands of Blood donors in this country!

1996 marks the 50th year of the Blood Service and through these pages we want to let you know something of its achievements.

More important the demand for blood continues to increase and we hope we might persuade you to enrol as a blood donor.

Giving blood is safe, straightforward and rewarding.
The true value of blood is not only felt by the patients receiving it but by their friends and families who recognise the vital support afforded by donors.
